Introduction
Justice Narendra Nath Mithal Memorial Foundation is a trust established by Late Smt Vimal Mithal W/o Justice Late Narendra Nath Mithal in memory of her husband who died at an early age of 66 in the year 1996. The Trust is registered with the Sub-Registrar, Meerut w.e.f 19th June, 1998. The Turst has a maximum of seven trustees including a President/Vice President, a Secretary and a Treasurer. Shri Ram Prakash Mittal, Retd. General Manager, Hind Lamps, Shikhobad is its founder President with Shri Praveen Mithal, Advocate of Meerut as the founder Secretary. The primary object of the Trust is to build a healthy civilized society by promoting education &sports activity and developing civic & legal consciousness amongst the citizens

Justice Late Narendra Nath Mithal was a Judge of the Allahabad High Court from 14.12.1978 to 05.04.1992. After his retirement he shifted to his home town Meerut where he died on 7th April, 1996 at the age of 66 years only.
He was born on 06.04.1930 on ‘Ramnavami’ in the illustrious family of lawyers. His father Brij Nath Mithal was one of the greatest civil and revenue lawyer of his time of the Western U.P. His elder brother Raghubar Dayal Mithal was also a leading civil lawyer of the District Court who occupied the top slot for decades. Since he had declined the coveted post of a judge of the Allahabad High Court twice, he persuaded his younger brother to join when it was offered to him in 1978.
Justice N.N. Mithal was a prominent civil lawyer of Meerut before his elevation. He also worked as ADGC (Civil) and DGC (Civil) which was considered to be an important assignment in those days.
He did his schooling from NAS College and BSc. LL.B from Meerut College, Meerut before joining the profession.
He was a keen sportsperson who played cricket, badminton, TT, hockey and billiards. He loved skating and swimming. He had interest in instrumental music and was a member of Meerut Musical Circle.
He was a member of Meerut Cricket Gymkhana and the Alexandra Athletic Club and later was its patron also.
Justice Mithal was elected member of the Court of the Meerut University (now Ch. Charan Singh Meerut University) several times. After retirement he become the member of the executive body of the prestigious R.G. Girls Degree College of Meerut for a short time.
He is remembered as one of the finest judges on the civil side and for his cool temperament. He gave patient hearing to one and all. He was admired for his suave and soft manner and cordial behaviour both in and out of court.
Justice Mithal while in office was appointed as the chairman of one person commission on Ayodhya episode that took place in 1991.
His elder son Justice Pankaj Mithal is a Judge of the Supreme Court of India. His younger son Dr Pallav Mithal is teaching political science and is settled in Jaipur. His wife Smt. Vimal (late) herself a law graduate, in his fond memory established a trust – Justice Narendra Nath Mithal Memorial Foundation for patronizing legal education particularly for girls and other educational and social activities

Scholarship
- The trust proposes to award scholarship to one girl student of law of Tagore Public School/College, Prayagraj, every year.
- Tagore Public School/College has recently started 5 year law classes and is one of the most recognized and the famous institution of Prayagraj.
- Any girl student of law desirous of getting aid of scholarship i.e tuition/academic fee may apply to the trust online. The trust after verifying credentials of the girl and on being satisfied that she is a student in need, would award scholarship to her.
- In the first year the girl student so selected for scholarship would be allowed 100 % scholarship, in the 2nd year she will be allowed 75 % scholarship; third year she will be allowed 50 %; 4th year she will be allowed 25 % and in the 5th year if she insists and the trust is of the opinion that she is still in the need, 25 % scholarship shall be allowed to her in that year also.
- In this way the trust would award scholarship every year to one student meaning thereby that every year one student would be added.
